Tournament Format:
There will be two pools of 4 teams each for boys and girls. Teams will play a round robin within their pools, with the top 3 teams from each pool advancing to the playoffs in a crossover format. The fourth place team in each pool will be eliminated after round robin play.
Matches in the round robin play will be a best of 3 format. The first two sets will be to 25, rally point in effect, capped at 27. The third set, if necessary, is to 15, with no cap. Sets must be won by 2 points before the cap. Standings will be determined first by matches won/lost. Tie break procedures will be as per CVA rules.
Playoffs will be a best of 3 format, with the same capping procedure as in round robin. The winner of each playoff match will advance to the next round, the loser will be eliminated.
We will be using 3 courts. 2 courts in the FX Sport Center and 1 court in St. Francis Xavier main gym.
School Care and Use:
Please ensure that your players are supervised and instructed in the care of a host facility. This includes not warming up in the halls, leaving trash in their meeting areas, and staying out of the class rooms, one classroom will serve as a coaches’ and officials’ lounge. Also, please ensure your players have a ride home arranged before the conclusion of your last match each day, so that athletes are not left hanging around with no one to supervise them.
Please respect the “no food or drink in the gym” policy, as it impacts your players as well as our facility.
Schedule:
REMIND ATHLETES AND PARENTS THAT TIMES ARE NOT RIGID IN TOURNAMENTS, SO BE EARLY FOR GAMES. THE POSTED SCHEDULE IS ONLY A GUIDELINE!! Sets will begin at the posted time, or as the schedule varies, so warm-ups may vary.
NEW JAMBOREE: Please see the attached Jamboree document for details. All 16 teams will participate in a fun Jamboree in the FX Main Gym on Friday October 20th from 5:00pm to 6:30pm in the Main Gym.
COACHES:
There will be a coach’s hospitality room with food and refreshments on Friday night and Saturday during the day. Please feel free to help yourself and relax in this room during the tournament. This room will be located at St. Francis Xavier School in the staffroom.
